WASDA in partnership with Save the Children is currently undertaking the emergency education program in Wajir South and Habaswein district. The purpose of the program is to mitigate the impact of drought on education attainment by diversifying education opportunities for both school dropouts and out of school children from the nomadic pastoralist communities.

The program has three specific objectives considered critical during emergencies:

  1. Increased access to formal education for children whose families have been displaced by drought.
  2. To improve the learning environment for schools with upsurge in enrollment due to the drought so as to cope with pressure exerted on over stretched resources.
  3. Explore alternative education programs for out of school children that are flexible and appropriate for their diverse needs.
